2008 CLUB NEWS
Lawn bowling, a 100-year-old tradition at Buck Hill, continues to try to make the bowling greens a central part of our community as it once was. Our president, Carlisle Nostrame, has read through the archives and thought it would be great to bring back the tradition of chess playing under the arbor. But how do we do that? Simple when we have angels looking over us and who want to help with some of our dreams. Recently, an angel made a donation so that we could purchase a natural stone chess table, chess set and clock. It will be set up under the arbor on the greens. You may play chess between bowling matches or while you’re watching others play. Or, just come down to the greens on a beautiful Buck Hill day and challenge someone to a game of chess. Thanks to our Angel and to Carlisle for bringing back a little piece of Buck Hill history.
The weather is getting warmer and we will soon be bowling again. We hope our seasoned bowlers will return, as well as those who have never bowled. Our lawn bowlers are an entertaining group, and we look forward to new members who enjoy spirited good times.
