WEGA Championships INTRO MEETING 8/11/2022  5:00PM-7:00PM

Buck Hill Falls is happy to announce that we will be hosting the 2023 Women’s Eastern Golf Association Amateur Championship June 12-15, 2023!

The Women’s Eastern is the oldest 54-hole stroke play event in the USA.  It began in 1906 and has continued strong throughout the years, only breaking for WW1, WW2 and COVID.  It is also one of the most prestigious Amateur Golf Events each summer.  The top 15 players in the Eastern receive World Golf Ranking points.  The field for the Eastern typically consists of the top-ranked Division 1 Collegiate athletes, and many of Women’s Eastern Champions move on to successful careers on the LPGA.

The Women’s Eastern has a rich history in the Northeast, as it was founded during the playing of the intercity matches known as the Griscom Cup in 1906.  Past host clubs include Baltistrol Golf Course, Huntington Valley Country Club, Philadelphia Cricket Club, Philadelphia Country Club, Westchester Country Club, Charles River Country Club, and many more throughout its 100+ year history.

The board of the Women’s Eastern is ecstatic to be returning to its roots in Pennsylvania in 2023, with Anne Gannon (Fraser), the Treasurer of the Women’s Eastern and 2003 past champion, also a Buck Hill Resident.

This tournament is a volunteer run event, with many opportunities to contribute.

Please join us Thursday, August 11 at Tennis Tea, 5:00pm, to learn more about The Women’s Eastern and how Buck Hillers can help make this a great event for the club and the Women’s Eastern Golf Association.
